My partner (Isa) and I decided to put a twist on the whole Romcom idea… we are going to make it take place in the 80’s! This may be challenging but I have confidence that we will find a way to make it work. We are thinking of starting off with a split screen to show the two characters getting ready to go to the beach. The split screen would be used in the beginning when the two characters are talking to their friends. They do not know each other yet but they have many things in common hinting at the fact that they would both get along. For instance, they have the same music taste which can be inferred from the same posters they have in their room along with concert tickets to the same band!
Their rooms would each be decorated in relation to the time period and there would be 80s music playing in the background. The split screen would end after they both get off the phone with their friends and would focus on what is in their rooms. The two characters would get on their transportation (bike for the girl and skateboard for the boy). They could go to the beach to hang out with their friends (the girl could be reading while waiting for her friend and the boy could be going to the restaurant on the pier to meet his friends).
