PRODUCTION PLANNING

My partner (Isa) and I have agreed on an outline for the film opening. We have already decided to do an 80's Romcom, but now have planned out the scenes to shoot. Our idea is to take a more modern approach to a romantic comedy but make it take place in the 1980's. Our film is going to open with a black screen saying the production name (still haven't agreed on a name yet but might do something with our names) and then transition to a split phone call like they have in Mean Girls with Regina George, Gretchen, Karen, and Cady. The video of the phone call scene can be accessed here

The split phone call will include April and Ricky but they will each be talking to their friends who are trying to set them up with some of their friends and their response will be something along the lines of "I want to meet someone the classic way." I do not know yet if I want their friends in it or if I simply want to use a voiceover for that scene. Or maybe, their voice isn't even heard, it's just April and Ricky's responses that are heard. Eventually, the guy's screen will take over the camera and will show the props used to decorate his room in showing it through a POV shot.  The screen will then go back to a split screen. In addition, the girl's screen will take over to say goodbye to her friend (as Ricky's is doing the same) and then show the props in her room. There could be a tracking shot of Ricky's as he is leaving his room to go to the beach and shows him picking up his skateboard. Then, there could be a POV shot of April getting on her bike changing to a tracking shot of her bike riding. In addition, there could be a reversed tracking shot for Ricky's as he is skating towards the camera. The camera can then show the girl reading or getting in the water with her friend and can show the boy dabbing up his friends. There could be a split screen of both characters explaining to their friends that they're going to get snacks or drinks in the snack shack and it shows the two characters walking past each other and then the name of the production can little by little come up in the gap between them. The guy can be clueless and say "oops wrong way" and he runs into her direction where they bump into each other. The opening can then stop when he puts his hand out for her to get up.

Okay well that's it for today, write to you next time :)
